The Clear Light of Winter

It was cold and windy today, with the clear, revealing light that we only get in Winter. I left work early to go and sit for a time, while there was still daylight, beside my beloved Potomac River. A flock of Canada geese reminded me of C.S. Lewis’ quote about discovering Wagner’s music: that it created in him a “great feeling of Northerness.”
