  1. There had to be something wrong when so many women were trying to lose weight and failing 95% of the time. The old saw about not trying hard enough just doesn’t fit the numbers. The book “Death by Food Pyramid” traces America’s bulging waistlines to the release of the food pyramid itself and goes into the history of politics and well meaning but poor science behind it. It’s a pretty good read.

  2. I do think any idea that will power alone solves a problem when the food is basically loaded against us is nonsense. Americans ARE being lied to, every time someone says high fructose corn syrup is “just like sugar” for instance — much more than lack of physical exercise is going on in American life.

  3. I’ve been able to walk away from drugs, alcohol and cigarettes….but sugar pulls me back in over and over and over. Hey, it’s bad luck not to have a piece of birthday cake.
