May the Goddess Guard Him. May He Find His Way to the Summerlands. May His Friends and Family Know Peace.

You lose cred the minute that you admit that you liked Rod McKuen. He wrote “popular” poetry, meaning poetry that a lot of people, even those without degrees and pedigrees, enjoyed.

I liked him.

He slipped through the veils this week and I hope he’s writing popular poetry in the Summerlands.

“Come out to the meadows, Jean,” is pretty damn sexy writing.
