Here’s our new Poet Laureate, reading two poems: the first, a poem that changed things for her and, the second, a poem of her own. She also discusses the role of politics in poetry.

Love the poems, and love what she says about writing poetry as discovery. Writing is risky. It changes you. You aren’t the same person when you finish that you were when you started.

I have a feeling that the President was not involved in the selection of the Poet Laureate.
