The Magical Battle for America 7.16.17

One Got Away

I am so grateful to everyone doing this work and to those who share this working at their own blog or on social media.  Please keep up the good work!

Now’s probably a good time to remind everyone to check/refresh the wards on your home or wherever you do this work.  Be sure that you’re rested, grounded, and in a comfortable position.

Anchor yourself firmly to your landbase.  Notice a small detail that will call you back when this working is finished.

Ground and center.  Cast a circle.

As you move astrally to our American plain on the astral plane, you can see again the safe hillock where you do your work.  You can see the five giant banners, shining in the sky:  Walden Pond, the Underground Railroad, the Cowboy, the Salmon, and Lady Liberty.  Do they seem more defined since we began our work?  Do they have anything special to tell you this week?

For a few moments, just sit on your hillock and allow yourself to become comfortable. This place should be feeling very real to you by now; we’ve been working together to create it for months and months.  Do you see the giant Cowboy banner hanging in Southwestern sky?  Watch as that banner grows larger and brighter.  You can reach out your hand and pat the cowboy’s horse, smell the piñon on the wind, hear the cattle moving slowly across the grassy plain.   As you watch the cowboy ride slowly across the vast expanse of the Southwest, you find yourself, as well, sitting comfortably upon a strong, grey horse, searching the horizon for any dangers that might befall the cows under your protection.

The cowboy archetype incorporates several important notions of what it means to be an American.  He is brave, uncomplaining, willing to act alone when needed, persistent, responsible for his herd.  Feel yourself growing in any or all of those characteristics that will help you to Resist.  Thank the cowboy you’ve been riding with and, now, ride your fast, grey horse all over America, spreading these strengths to everyone who Resists.  As you ride, whirl your lasso in the air and let it spread bravery, stoicism, persistence, and responsible action in every city, town, and countryside abode.  Call to America’s cowboys, both past and present, and ask them to help Americans to be strong during these troubled times.  Do they have a message for you?  Is there something that you want to offer to them?

You find that you have ridden all across America and returned to your own hillock.  Pat your good, grey horse, give her an apple, and send her back to the Southwest.  And know that you are not working alone.  The Resistance — both magical and in all of its mundane (phone banking, check writing, representative calling, letter writing, canvassing, voting, volunteering, tutoring, restoring wetlands, growing plants for bees) manifestations — is huge.  Know that you are a powerful worker of magic, rooted in your very own landbase, working with the strong archetypes of this land, assisted by countless unseen others who labor in league with you.  You are brave and growing braver.  Your magic and your practical workings can make the difference.

Return to your own body, your own landbase.  Open your eyes.  Rub your face, move your arms and legs.  Notice the detail you selected to call you back from the astral.  Open your circle.  Drink something, maybe icy water or a strong cup of coffee.  If you like, have something to eat, maybe some summer soup or a handful of cherries.

During the course of this week, you may want to visit the bannered prairie several times in order to strengthen its presence on the astral.  You may want to repeat this working several times.  You may want to find a picture of a cowboy and place it on your altar.  You may want to journal about it.  Are you inspired to make any art?  Can you sit beside a warm fire, or light incense, or stare into a candle?   What actions are you inspired to take for the Resistance?  If you’re willing, please share in comments what happened and how this working went.

    Dear HecateDemeter,
I have been following your wonderful blog for quite some time. You absolutely, totally rock.
I have been avidly keeping up with the magickal Battle for America, too. I love your vivid descriptions, expert suggestions on the work to be done and your excellent guidelines for safely getting to and from that sacred, bannered prairie on the astral.
On July 9th, I traveled there myself with two other shamans. To our surprise and ultimate dismay all three of us had the same disturbing experience on that beautiful, magickal plain.
When we traveled together to the bannered prairie, we were met outside the hillock by Spirits of the First Peoples/Native Americans. The Spirits were upset, sad, disappointed, and unhappy that they have not been included in this important magickal work in the battle for America.
The Native people have always understood and maintained the holiness of this land (Turtle Island) and recognized the sacredness and unique value of all of its inhabitants long before anyone from Europe set foot here.
When the early colonists/exploiters arrived on these shores, many of the tribes offered a welcome acceptance and crucial support to those struggling colonies. In return for their kindness, aid and generosity the Natives were brutally abused, tormented, enslaved, murdered and cruelly robbed of their lands, cultures and lifestyles by the very people and their descendants who would not have survived here without their initial aid and assistance.
The magick, energy, anger and strength of the First Peoples here and on the astral would be a powerful and important additional force in the Battle for America. This land we call America was their sacred land from the very beginning. The Spirits we encountered told us they also have a stake in this magickal battle for America and want to make a contribution to it. Would you consider adding another banner to the sacred prairie on the astral plane to include the First Peoples, the original inhabitants of Turtle Island? The Spirits also told us that if you chose to do so, the work will become even more powerful than it is now.
All the best to you and yours! Keep up the great work! xo

  2. Bear in the Meadow, Thank you SO MUCH for this moment. I have been very torn about including First Peoples in this work. I don’t want to be at all disrespectful and I could completely understand how First Peoples could be unwilling to do this work, given how America stomped on their rights and appropriated their ideas/identities/words. I am going to take very seriously the idea that they want to be included and may seek help from some Pagans I know. I am more grateful than I can say to you for brining this up.

  3. You’re very welcome.
I shared this info with you based on a personal experience I had with two other shamans at the same time. None of us expected to encounter any First Peoples Spirits when we traveled to the bannered prairie together. When we came back and shared our experiences with each other we realized we had all had similar encounters and had gotten the same message. We were surprised by the experience and the messages we received. Nonetheless, we honored it.
I held on to the message for a while before I shared it because I wanted to see if its urgency would fade with time. It did not. It actually became stronger. The thoughts came up on a daily basis until I finally hit the “Post Comment” button. : )
The Spirits want to join this effort because They see now there are finally “non-Native” people here who understand Their perspective and can be trusted to work with Them. Like the rest of us engaged in this effort, They want to bring us once again to a time when people understand, honor, and respect the Earth and all her inhabitants. The Spirits and Their Power, Energy and Memory are still a constant undercurrent that flows every where across this country. It’s a Power that can be tapped into, shared and utilized to the nth degree with the right attitude in the right situation. They understand the special gravity of the current situation and want to join this work to bring about a needful change. They need our help to do so. There are times when it is wise and honorable to forgive the past in order to move forward unburdened into the future. Wakan Tanka is still here and is waiting for the Call.
Yes! By all means check in with your Pagan wise folk. When/If you have the chance to meditate/journey to the Spirits of the First Peoples yourself check in and see what you get. Trust your excellent intuition, collect and gather all the good counsel you need and Do As You Will.
It’s an honor and a pleasure to work with you and all the others who have taken up this important task. Their sincere efforts, magicks and integrity have transformed it into a Sacred Calling.
Great love to you and many blessings. xo

    • Thank you for this additional information! I got some guidance today and will be doing some more deep meditations on my own, but I think I may see a way forward. I just want to make sure that it is respectful, avoids appropriation, and will serve the higher good. I can’t say how very grateful I am to you for doing this work and for sharing your experiences. That was precisely how Dion Fortune’s group worked.
