The Magical Battle for America 8.18.19

Today’s working repeats a working that we did a few years ago.  The need today seems stronger than ever.

Now’s probably a good time to remind everyone to check/refresh the wards on your home or wherever you do this work.  Be sure that you’re rested, grounded, and in a comfortable position.  Maybe wrap up in a blanket or cloak or grasp a stone or talisman that matters to you.  Grow your roots, send them deep into the soil, let them intertwine and grow small hairs to attach to the mycelia in your own landbase.

Anchor yourself firmly to your landbase.  Notice a small detail that will call you back when this working is finished.

Ground and center.  Cast a circle.

As you move to our American plain on the astral plane, you can see again the safe hillock where you do your work.  You can see the five giant banners, shining in the sky:  Walden Pond, the Underground Railroad, the Cowboy, the Salmon, and Lady Liberty.  Do they seem more defined since we began our work?  Do they have anything special to tell you this week?

For a few moments, just sit on your hillock and allow yourself to become comfortable. This place should be feeling very real to you by now; we’ve been working together to create it for months and months.  As you relax, you hear the sound of water running over river rocks, splashing down waterfalls, gurgling as the water runs to the sea.  You look to the Northwest and see the Salmon Banner growing larger and larger in the sky.  You can see rivers full of salmon.  Salmon leaping into the sunny air, salmon resting in deep, shady  pools, salmon swimming just below the skin of the river as falling leaves float for a minute before submerging in the light of the Full Hunter’s Moon.  The sound and sight of the river gets larger and larger and becomes three-dimensional.  Stand up and walk into the banner.

You find yourself standing beside a wide river.  For as long as necessary, stand and watch the moonlight glisten off the silvery sales of America’s salmon.  Native Americans, the Celts, and others have all known Salmon to be very wise.  Wisdom is more than just knowledge; wisdom is the ability to sift through information and make good decisions.  It is the ability to discern truth from lies.  Wisdom is the ability to slow down, consider the source, and apply all of our former experience to the decisions we make.  As you watch, one salmon grows larger and clearer in the moonlight.  Its large eyes seem to look deep into your soul.  It surfaces and splashes you with glistening drops of water, each of which  nurtures your own wisdom.

You may want to have a conversation with Salmon.  Ask it what practical steps the Resistance can take to help Americans become more wise and less gullible.  Ask Salmon what particular wisdom you can share with those you meet.  You may want to make an offering to Salmon, to share a song or dance or chant.  Cup your hand and lift some of the moonlit river water.  When you are ready, thank Salmon and walk back out of the banner to your familiar hillock.

Tip your hand and slowly pour onto the dry earth the water in which wise Salmon was swimming.  Watch it seep into the soil where it is absorbed by the world-wide web of mycelia that connect plants all across the planet.  Watch the wisdom spread throughout America, strengthening our democracy against propaganda, disinformation, and cyber warfare.

Remember that Salmon is always available to help you every time that you need to do magic for America.

Return to your own body, your own landbase.  Open your eyes.  Rub your face, move your arms and legs.  Notice the detail you selected to call you back from the astral.  Open your circle.  Drink something, maybe tea with cream or carrot juice.  If you like, have something to eat, maybe a piece of sharp cheddar or toast with jam.

During the course of this week, you may want to visit the bannered prairie several times in order to strengthen its presence on the astral.  You may want to repeat this working.  You may want to place something on your altar to help you to remember Salmon.  You may want to journal about your experience.  Are you inspired to make any art?  Can you sit beside a warm fire, or light incense, or stare into a candle?   What actions are you inspired to take for the Resistance?  If you’re willing, please share in comments what happened and how this working went.
