Pickles

The gardening season is winding up, here in Virginia’s Blue Ridge. I’ve been making pickles with some of my crops. These taqueria pickles are the best, so far.

  1. Applesauce. It’s my favorite celebration of autumn: take a pleasant drive to the fruit stand to get two boxes of jonathan or honeycrisp, then spend the afternoon canning chunky applesauce with cinnamon and honey for winter, and nibble on apples all day long.
