The Magical Battle for America 7.8.18

May I ask a favor?  If you’ve been doing this work, thank you!  I have been hearing lately in my meditations that not enough people are doing the work.  So if you have a Facebook page, or a blog, or a Twitter account, I’d be very grateful if you’d share these workings and encourage others to join in.  I think we can make a difference.  Also, please note on the right side of the blog that Diotima has been cataloging these posts in case someone wants to go back to earlier workings.  Many thanks.

Now’s probably a good time to remind everyone to check/refresh the wards on your home or wherever you do this work.  Be sure that you’re rested, grounded, and in a comfortable position.  Maybe wrap up in a blanket or cloak and grasp a stone or talisman that matters to you.  Grow your roots, send them deep into the soil, let them intertwine and grow small hairs to attach to the mycelia in your own landbase.

Breathe.

Anchor yourself firmly to your landbase.  Notice a small detail that will call you back when this working is finished.

Ground and center.  Cast a circle.

Breathe.

As you move to our American plain on the astral plane, you can see again the safe hillock where you do your work.  You can see the five giant banners, shining in the sky: Walden Pond, the Underground Railroad, the Cowboy, the Salmon, and Lady Liberty.  Do they seem more defined since we began our work? Do they have anything special to tell you this week?

For a few moments, just sit on your hillock and allow yourself to become comfortable.  This place should be feeling very real to you by now; we’ve been working together to create it for months and months.  What’s become familiar to you?  A tuft of prairie grass?  Buffalo off in the distance?  The scent of sand carried on the wind?  You’ve been involved in a months-long magical working here, joined with magic workers from across the globe.  Feel your connection to this place on the astral plane. It is always here for you, always a source of strength.

We all have American ancestors.  Some of them are our ancestors via family and some of them are our ancestors via spirit, art, sympathy.  Today, we’re going to work with one of our recent ancestors via sympathy and art.  You might want to call your own ancestors — of whichever type — and ask them to aid you in today’s work.  Some of them may be American ancestors.  Some of them may come from other places.  But all of them are ancestors because they care for children.

As you sit on your hillock and look out across America, the sun begins to go down.  You can see windows twinkle in the evening gloom, beginning on the East Coast and then moving across America from the plains, to the Rocky Mountains, to the West Coast.  You can walk up and peer into the living rooms of American homes and, in this place where all times are one time, you can see children of the past sitting around their TVs.  Some of the TVs are early black & white models, some are color TVs from the 1980s, some are giant screen TVs that the children control by voice.  On each screen, you see an American ancestor, Fred Rogers (known as Mr. Rogers), speaking to the children.  From 1968 to 2001, Mr. Rogers had a children’s TV show in which he reached out to children and helped them deal with everyday life and with trauma.  He showed children that the world can be kind, safe, friendly, and open.  Mr. Rogers embodies both the Cowboy, who cared for every tiny calf, and Thoreau, who, at Walden Pond,  exemplified gentleness.

Stand up on your hillock.  Grow your roots deep into the ground,  Run your roots to Latrobe, PA, where this American ancestor is buried.  Call to him.  Ask him to rise up.  See his spirit coming back through the veils.  Can you make an offering to him?  He liked songs, puppet shows, calm conversation, and fantasy.  Maybe you can sing to his spirit, do a puppet show for him, speak kindly to him, tell him a story.  Maybe you can put out cookies and milk for him, or donate some books to the local library in his name, or volunteer time to your local kindergarten to honor him.  Pay the spirit his due.

Talk to this American Ancestor about the horrors that Trump’s ICE is inflicting on children.  Tell him how they rip children away from their parents,  How they house them in cages.  How they refuse to wash them.  How they mock their pain,  As you offer chocolate milk, vegetable soup, and animal crackers (animal crackers are an EXCELLENT offering to make to this American Ancestor), ask Mr. Rogers to witness what is happening.

And, now, offer to go with him to the cages.  Ask Mr. Rogers to come inside the metal gates where children are kept like animals.  Ask him to slip under the “space blankets” where they cry themselves to sleep, far away from their mothers and fathers.  Ask your American Ancestor to show up for these children who have no one else.   When you find yourself and Mr. Rogers deep within one of these American concentration camps, send energy to Mr. Rogers so that he can become real to the children who need him,  Grab his hand and go with Mr. Rogers to slip into the frightened dreams of the children that Trump has kidnapped and imprisoned in his concentration camps.

As the kidnapped children toss and turn, dreaming fitfully of their parents, you and Mr. Rogers show up to send them messages of safety, peace, warmth, family, animal crackers, chocolate milk, sunshine.  You and Mr. Rogers give them the strength to hold on until they can be reunited with their family,  You and Mr, Rogers touch them just before they wake and remind them that they are loved.   You and your American Ancestor sing them a gentle song and let them feel the strength of their parents’ arms.   Trump is traumatizing children, but, on the astral plain, you and this American Ancestor, Mr. Rogers, are strengthening the children.  Mundane work will be needed to reunite these children with their parents.  But, in the meantime, you and your American ancestors can work with the children to keep them strong.

My own grandma is making lemon meringue pies for them and showing them how to sew.  She lost a beloved son to scarlet fever and she lived to make dolls out of  hollyhock flowers and pins,  She would make cookies for those children from the scraps of her pie dough and would help them to cut out paper dolls.

What are your own ancestors doing for these children?  What are you doing?

Breathe.

As you sit on your hillock and rest, know that you are not working alone. The resistance — both magical and in all of its mundane (phone banking, check writing, representative calling, letter-writing, canvassing, voting, volunteering, tutoring, restoring wetlands, growing plants for bees) manifestations — is huge. Know that you are a powerful worker of magic, rooted in your very own landbase, working with the strong archetypes of this land, assisted by countless unseen others who labor in league with you. You are brave and growing braver. Your magic and your practical workings can make the difference. America’s Ancestors are always available to you when you want to do magic to strengthen America.

Breathe.

Return to your own body, your own landbase. Open your eyes. Rub your face, move your arms and legs. Notice the detail you selected to call you back from the astral. Open your circle. Drink something, maybe chocolate milk or orange juice. If you like, have something to eat, maybe sugar cookies or tapioca pudding.

During the course of this week, you may want to visit the bannered prairie several times in order to strengthen its presence on the astral. You may want to repeat this working. You may want to place a picture of Mr. Rogers on your altar.  What other actions are you inspired to take for the resistance? If you’re willing, please share in comments what happened and how this working went.

  1. Reblogged this on Thesseli.

  2. I share it every week on my Tumblr page . . . although sadly I don’t see enough likes or shares, but it is out there. I’m gaining followers steadily though, so hopefully it will build. No matter what, the energy is consistently put out there into the world.

  3. Today I will begin participating in this working. Have read the first few weeks, and will do them to begin with. Yet I know there is more power when we are on the same weekly guidelines. Am thinking I’d like to mix some of the “old” workings with the topics you give us, just so I can “catch up.” Is that okay with you, Hecate Demeter?
