Conversation with Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki about the Magical Battle of Britain

Unknown

Earlier this Spring, I was fortunate to have a chance to discuss Dion Fortune’s   Magical Battle of Britain  with Dolores Ashcroft-Nowicki .  It’s taken me some time to transcribe all of it; Diotima  has each part of the interview posted here.   Below is the conclusion of our conversation.  I’m very grateful to Ms. Ashcroft-Nowicki for her insights and to the people who helped to set up our discussion.

Me:  Dolores, I don’t want to take up too much more of your time, although this is just more helpful to me than you can imagine.  Were there mistakes that you think the British occultists made during World War II and/or are there mistakes that you think we ought to be very careful to avoid?

DAN:  Well, considering that in the 40s really serious training in the occult was very few and far between — it was still connected with things like false mediums and what have you — Dion Fortune made such strides in this when she started the Inner Light .  I would think the only mistake they made came right after the war when the man that had taken them through the war, Churchill, was thrown aside and they took in another man, called Atlee, who really buggered things up.

Your main thing is to get rid of Trump.  But you cannot get rid of somebody without having someone to put in their place.  Hillary has been quite sort of definite as to say that “I will not run,” but who else is there?  And is it going to be Democrat or is it going to be Republican?

[Here we veered into a brief discussion of current British politics.]

Whoever you put in this guy’s place they have to have the confidence and the love of that person for the country and its people.

Me:  I have one last question.  I have read that Dion Fortune who, as you know, died very soon after the war, felt that she basically wrecked her health in this process, that by the time her magic working against the occult forces in Germany was done, physically she was just worn out from it.  Are there things that you think we should be careful about?

DAN:  Dion Fortune offered herself.  If that was what was needed, she was willing.   And she died of leukemia, which is a loss of blood, like all sacrificial offerings.  So that is such a difficult thing.  I think it was something that she decided, I think it was something that she offered, I think it was something that was accepted and that she accepted.

You see, here again, there is so much of this land and each state is a law unto tself.  You call yourself “United,” you’re anything but united at the moment.  It’s got to be “America” and not “the USA.”

Me:  Dolores thank you so much for your time.
